Tour
begins early, around 7:30 a.m, from San José and
continues to the rural town of La Guácima, home of The
Butterfly Farm and an ideal location for rearing
butterflies. In a garden that is filled with over a
thousand living butterflies, experienced guides will
explain to you the butterflies cycle of life, the
natural history of these insects and the farm's
operations.
The tour includes a welcome cup of coffee, an
introductory film about The Butterfly Farm and the
natural history of butterflies, a guided walk through
The Butterfly Garden™, a visit to the laboratory where
the larvae are reared to pupation and an explanation of
the export process.
Once the tour at The Butterfly Farm is concluded at
11:00 a.m., the trip continues to the Orchid Farm where
a delicious lunch will be waiting. |

Only 45 minutes away from San Jose, located in a 1000 acre
private reserve of virgin rain forest that borders the
Braulio
Carrillo National Park, one of the most biologically diverse
parks in Costa Rica and possessing one of the richest canopy
communities in the world. This unique experience consists of an
aerial excursion through the rain forest canopy, home to
two-thirds of all rain forest species, accompanied by local
guides. (The guide training program is designed to provide
locals with new work opportunities which protect the natural
environment). 4 hours in length. |

will see all that and more
Waterfall Gardens is open year round from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30
p.m., with our last shuttle pick up from the exit trail at 5:00
p.m. We recommend our last visitors to enter the park at 3:45
p.m. to insure that you have enough time to walk the primary
trails. Reservations are not necessary. We can accommodate
earlier arrivals and later departures with an advance request. |
